Europa-Liebig-Stipendium für Nachwuchswissenschaftler in der Chemie

Der Fonds möchte einem ausländischen Nachwuchswissenschaftler, der in Deutschland eine ein- bis zweijährige Postdoktorandenzeit verbracht hat, die Chance geben, mit einem Liebig-Stipendium in sein Heimatland (Griechenland, Portugal, Spanien) zurückzukehren, um dort eine Nachwuchsgruppe aufzubauen (die männliche Sprachform schließt die weibliche ein).

Der Antrag ist gemeinsam mit dem Hochschullehrer in Deutschland, der die Postdoktorandenzeit betreut hat, zu stellen. Dieser verpflichtet sich, während der Stipendienlaufzeit weiterhin als Mentor zu fungieren und bei der Abwicklung der Sachmittel durch die ausländische Hochschulverwaltung unterstützend tätig zu werden. Einmal pro Jahr erstellt er einen Kurzbericht (1 bis 2 Seiten) für den Fonds. Darin soll zur Unabhängigkeit des Forschungsprojektes und zum Fortschritt der Arbeit Stellung bezogen werden.

Voraussetzung, Dotierung und Auswahlverfahren entsprechen dem des Liebig-Stipendiums in Deutschland (siehe Merkblatt), d.h. es gibt keine zusätzlichen Auslandszuschläge. Anträge können ab sofort bis spätestens 30. April 2014 eingereicht werden.

Europe Liebig Fellowship for a young scientist in chemistry

from Greece, Portugal or Spain

This fellowship is intended for one young foreign scientist in the chemical sector who has spent a post-doctoral period of 1 to 2 years in Germany. With a Europe Liebig Fellowship, the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie wishes to provide an opportunity for this scientist to return to his/her country (Greece, Portugal or Spain), in order to build up an independent junior research group in that country.

The application needs to be made jointly with the university teacher who hosted the foreign scientist during his/her post-doctoral stay in Germany. This university teacher continues his mentorship throughout the entire timespan for which the Europe Liebig Fellowship is granted. Furthermore he assumes a supporting role in the making available the equipment allowance through the administration of the foreign university in Greece, Portugal or Spain. Once a year, the university teacher writes a short report (1 to 2 pages) for the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie. This report provides information about the independence of the research project and the progress of the activities.

Prerequisites, benefits and the selection procedure are the same as for the Liebig Fellowship in Germany (see the leaflet), i.e. no extra allowance is paid to the beneficiary because he/she is living and working abroad.
