The importance of industry is recognized

VCI director-general Utz Tillmann welcomes the decision of the EU Commission to put the future of European industry at the top of he political agenda in Brussels with a new strategy. Thus, the Commission highlights the importance of industry for growth and prosperity in Europe. It is now important, Tillmann says, to involve industry as a whole in order to use best the chances of digitalization and the circular economy.

In his speech on the State of the European Union, as delivered today before the Members of the European Parliament, EU Commission President Juncker announced the publication of a new industrial policy strategy of the Commission. VCI director-general Utz Tillmann comments: “It is positive that the Commission highlights the importance of industry for growth and prosperity in Europe. With the new strategy, the Commission wants to put the future of European industry at the top of the political agenda in Brussels. We very much welcome this decision.”

The chemical industry would be glad to support the Commission in concretising its plans. Tillmann: “It is important to drive forward industry as a whole. Especially the chances of digitalisation and the circular economy can be used best if the entire range of industrial enterprises is involved.”
