Kurt Bock nominated to succeed VCI president Dekkers

At its recent meeting in Berlin, the Presidential Council of the German chemical industry association VCI nominated Dr Kurt Bock (Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE, Ludwigshafen) as candidate for the next presidency. The new VCI president will be elected by the general assembly on 23 September 2016 in Düsseldorf. According to the statutes, the presidency lasts two years.

The incumbent VCI president Dr Marijn Dekkers, whose role as Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG ends on 1 May 2016, will maintain his leadership position at the VCI until the general assembly in September, in line with a decision by the VCI Presidential Council.

  • The Presidentical Council also proposed Dr Klaus Engel (Chairman of the Executive Board of Evonik Industries AG) for re-election as vice-president.
  • Further nominations by the VCI Presidential Council of new vice-president candidates:
    • Werner Baumann, Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG from 1 May 2016, and
    • Hans Van Bylen, Chairman of the Management Board of Henkel AG & Co. KGaA from 1 May 2016.

The vice-presidents will also be elected by the VCI general assembly in autumn 2016. The president and the vice-presidents form the board of the association.
